Our History
“Children are a hope that blossoms again and again, a project, that is constantly coming to fruition, a future that remains always open.“
– John Paul II
The history of the John Paul II Polish Language Saturday School began on 17 September 2005. Alexandra Mrozik,
the school’s long-standing headteacher, initiated the idea of a place where children can learn about the Polish language,
Polish geography and history and encounter native culture.
She was supported in setting up the school by Joanna Barton, Mirella Foster and Andy Olchowski.
Initially the school was housed in a small parish hall in the Metropolitan Cathedral, with just 10 children. The following year there were 60, and we now have nearly 200 pupils.
